The purpose of the study. Accumulation and analysis of information on sanctions pressure on a separate branch of the Russian economy – the chemical industry and on the possibilities of countering sanctions.

Research objectives. As part of the work, the authors set the task to study three blocks of information: high-quality expert information on sanctions in the field of chemical production; statistical data; information on industry leaders who have been sanctioned.

The main provisions and results of the study. The article discusses the key issues of the impact of sanctions and restrictions in the chemical industry. The object of research is the Russian chemical industry. The authors studied the impact of Western sanctions on the Russian chemical industry, the response and measures of the Russian Government, the experience of operating sanctioned companies, and analyzed the impact of Chinese and Russian export restrictions on the global fertilizer market.

Special attention is paid to the policy of the Russian authorities in the field of restricting access to information about strategically important companies and related persons and changing the information field due to the inability to disclose some corporate information. The analysis showed that sanctions pressure is only a part of international competition in the chemical products market; active protectionism on the part of large suppliers creates new, highly competitive conditions, and sanctions are only one of its significant factors.
