Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze transfer activity in the Russian football market, considering the sporting, economic, and organizational-legal aspects of its functioning. The role of transfer operations in forming the rosters and revenues of football clubs is examined, and an analysis of the transfer expenses, revenues, and balance sheets of Russian Premier League clubs over the past five seasons is provided. The key regulatory provisions for football player transfers in Russia are revealed, and the main types of transfers are characterized. The vertical and horizontal trajectories of football players in the Russian and international football systems are revealed and systematized. Considerable attention is given to the role of football schools and academies in the training of young players and the development of homegrown footballers. It has been established that the effective development of the transfer market is linked to ensuring the continuity of player progression from the preparatory stage to professional football and subsequent transition to higher competitive levels, including international ones.
