Abstract

In a situation of market uncertainty, the task of risk management is a prerequisite for maintaining sustainable development of business entities in the transport sector. The article presents the results of an empirical study on the nature of risk, its sources and historical features of the development of risk assessment and analysis methods. To describe the methodological basis of the study, an analysis of various methods of risk assessment and management was carried out. The analysis of risk assessment and management methods in order to minimize and prevent damage made it possible to substantiate the relevance and effectiveness of using statistical methods of risk assessment and the management method – diversification for business entities in the transport sector. The practical part of the study contains a quantitative assessment of the sources of income of PJSC TransContainer in terms of calculating the expected profitability and risk level, which allows you to effectively apply the risk diversification method and form a list of activities, counterparties or a source of income by geography excluding interaction, counterparty or type of activity that are accompanied by a high level of risk when receiving a certain percentage level of profitability. The conducted assessment and analysis made it possible to substantiate the effectiveness of the application of the diversification method and statistical methods of risk assessment in the activities of economic entities in the transport sector in terms of ensuring their sustainable development in conditions of uncertainty.
