https://doi.org/10.29030/2309-2076-2025-18-2-191-201

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of open innovation practices in the oil and gas industry. Key forms of interaction with external partners are examined, including corporate venture investing, scientific and technical cooperation with universities and research institutions, as well as the institutionalization of partnership models. It is emphasized that under conditions of increasing global competition and limited access to external technology sources, the use of open innovation mechanisms acquires strategic significance for enhancing the technological resilience of the industry. A comparative analysis of foreign and domestic experience is conducted, allowing identification of differences in the level of maturity, institutional framework, and degree of integration of external innovation resources into the corporate environment. Foreign models are characterized by a high degree of strategic alignment with the scientific agenda, extensive use of venture mechanisms, and stable alliances with external developers. Meanwhile, Russian practice demonstrates individual successful initiatives but overall is marked by limited coverage and a weak institutional base. Based on the analysis, directions for adapting effective solutions to Russian conditions are proposed. These include the development of venture building as a tool for long-term support of new businesses, formation of equal partnerships with scientific institutions, and the creation of organizational structures for managing open innovations. The presented conclusions can be used in the development of corporate strategies and state policies in the field of innovation development of the oil and gas industry.
